Our Story

We've Sat in Your Chair.
Now We're In Your Corner.

MachTen was founded on a straightforward premise — the aviation industry deserves advisory expertise from people who have actually operated inside it.

About MachTen

The Firm.

MachTen Aviation Consulting was co-founded by Tyler Tenbrink and Jonathan Caudill to provide the aviation industry with expert, operator-informed guidance that generalist consulting firms cannot deliver. The firm's work spans three interconnected service pillars — Talent, Compliance, and Training — and serves clients across the full spectrum of aviation: flight schools and universities, regional and major airlines, MRO operations, and government and regulatory bodies.

The name MachTen is a deliberate play on words. Mach 10 — ten times the speed of sound — represents the pace aviation moves and the precision it demands. It also carries the name of MachTen's co-founder: MachTenbrink. The name isn't accidental. It signals exactly what the firm is — built around the people behind it, not assembled from the outside.

MachTen operates as a founder-led firm with the ability to engage specialist contractors for specific engagements. Clients are never handed off to junior staff — every engagement is led by one or both founders.

Tyler Tenbrink
Co-Founder & Principal Consultant

Tyler brings 21+ years of aviation industry experience, including 11+ years leading talent acquisition functions inside major aviation organizations. His career spans every corner of the industry — from ground operations and corporate flight instruction to safety management and senior TA leadership at a regional airline and a national air medical operator.

Before founding MachTen, Tyler served as Director of Talent Acquisition for the Air division at Global Medical Response, leading recruiting across five brands for pilots, mechanics, and air medical crews. Prior to that, he spent nearly 11 years at Piedmont Airlines building the TA function from the ground up — developing programs with a 73% cadet conversion rate, a 95.7% AMT retention outcome, and a 78% placement rate for dispatch graduates.

Tyler's compliance background runs deep — he served as Manager of Safety Programs at Piedmont during the Embraer 145 fleet introduction and holds active certifications as an Argus PROS Lead Auditor and IOSA Auditor. He also spent years as a corporate instructor at Garmin International and held operations and compliance roles at Great Lakes Airlines and Air Midwest.

He holds a BAS in Technology Management and Professional Pilot Science from Kansas State University and is enrolled in an MS in Aeronautics at Liberty University. He holds a Private Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating.

Jonathan Caudill
Co-Founder & Principal Advisor

Jonathan brings expertise in aviation education, curriculum design, and training facilitation. As MachTen's Principal Advisor, he leads the firm's training practice — working with flight schools, airlines, and aviation training organizations to design and evaluate programs that actually work in the classroom and in the cockpit.

Jonathan's focus within MachTen centers on two areas where the aviation industry most needs better answers: generational dynamics in the aviation workforce, and pilot mental health. He presents, facilitates, and consults on both — helping organizations move from awareness to action.

His partnership with Tyler gives MachTen a dual lens that few consulting firms can offer. Where Tyler brings the operational and compliance perspective of someone who has managed TA teams and navigated audits, Jonathan brings the instructional and human perspective of someone who understands how people actually learn, communicate, and engage across the generations now entering and leading aviation.
